Job Description:
The North Carolina Rural Water Association (NCRWA) currently has an opening for the position of Circuit Rider to provide on-site managerial, financial, technical, and organizational assistance to rural and small public and private water systems throughout the State of North Carolina. This position will focus on assisting systems in the western half of North Carolina.
Experience Required:
Desired Qualifications: • Minimum of a high school diploma required. • Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in water system management, treatment and/or distribution. • Possession of water system operator certifications preferred. Degrees in related fields are also a plus. • Well-rounded knowledge of public water system needs and methodologies to meet those needs. • Knowledge of water system development, management, accounting, public finance principles, and state/federal regulatory requirements is also desired. • Excellent computer skills including use of internet, email and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc). • Ability to develop and deliver industry related presentations in the classroom setting and to the public. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Possession of a valid State of North Carolina Driver’s License and reliable transportation (required). • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within state and be away from home overnight. • Ability to work alone and as part of a diverse team. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in water, wastewater, or both. This position will focus primarily towards providing on-site assistance but will also require a reasonable amount of public presentations, training seminar coordination and facilitation, and preparation of written materials and reports.

Due to the nature of the position, it has a virtual/remote work environment, but you must be located in North Carolina. The position will work from their home assisting systems in the western half of the state. Position open until filled.
